Murphy Begins Series to Hear How Voters Could Better Spend $7mil. McMahon Wants for Herself

Today, Chris Murphy launched a series of roundtable discussions to hear how people in Connecticut would better use the $7 million personal tax break hidden on Linda McMahon's jobs website. Murphy met with voters at the Greek Olive Restaurant in New Haven.

"School budgets are already so tight, I can't imagine limiting funding any further. We need to invest more in our communities and our children's future, not less," said Julian Wilson, a master's student at Southern Connecticut State University.

"CItizens need to know that if elected, Linda McMahon would take $7 million out of the hands of middle class communities and give it to herself in the form of a huge new tax break ," said Murphy. "Linda McMahon is running to advance her own interests, not the interests of the middle class. Her 'tax plan' would mean massive cuts to important programs such as veterans benefits and job training. $7 million could fund so many things that are critical to our future and economic success, like 110 new teachers for Connecticut. Today we talked about what our communities need most--and it's not more tax cuts for Linda McMahon."

Murphy will continue the roundtable series throughout the state and also launched a poll on Facebook today asking people where they would invest $7 Million in their communities, so that even more people can join in the conversation.
