Budgetary Reform -- Earmarks and the Line-Item Veto

To the spend-and-tax mentality in Washington D.C., it is just as important to reform the budgetary process as it is to limit government spending.

The rise of earmarks is the perfect example of how a broken process can contribute to the out-of-control spending that has put the country on a course toward fiscal crisis.

Jim Jordan has co-sponsored and voted for legislation to reform the earmark process once and for all. He believes that requiring full disclosure and transparency of earmarks is the first step to ensure that the interests of all Americans are served.

Jordan has also co-sponsored legislation proposing a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as legislation to give the President line-item veto authority to eliminate pork-barrel projects from spending measures.
