Walberg Weekly Wrap-Up: Getting Down to Business

Statement

Date: Aug. 17, 2012

Dear friends,

I recently held a roundtable with small business owners at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce to discuss the economy. Over and over I heard how government regulations are holding them back from investing and creating a climate of uncertainty where they are afraid to hire. In fact so far this year, over 41,000 pages of new regulations have been published in the Federal Register, totaling over $56 billion in costs. If enacted, they would take over 100 million hours to complete. After hearing their concerns I reiterated my commitment to cutting red tape and helping restore certainty to small businesses and manufactures so that they can get back to creating more jobs.
