Issue Position: Jobs, Tax Fairness & Rebuilding Our Economy

Issue Position

Mark Pocan's experience owning a small business informs the legislation he has supported: he knows that small businesses don't need another tax break for the super wealthy, they need access to capital so they can expand. Whether it's supporting the rights of workers or providing tax incentives for small businesses, Pocan has made critical strides for Wisconsin. If elected, Mark will continue to use his experience as a job creator, both in his print shop and as a state legislator, to grow our economy and create jobs -- he will be one of a small percentage of representatives with small business experience.

Mark's Accomplishments:

Authored the American Jobs Act, mandating that State tax revenue cannot be spent for services overseas.

Saved or created 54,000 jobs by investing hundreds of millions of dollars for aggressive job creating and retention incentives for businesses using federal recovery dollars.

Secured $1.63 million in grants for Green Job and Infrastructure Training & Retraining for 6 labor unions.
Closed the "Las Vegas Loophole," ensuring companies pay their fair share to Wisconsin.

Raised taxes on the 1%

Mark's To-Do List:

Support stimulus money to create jobs, bolster our nation's infrastructure and rejuvenate the economy.

Spend resources to get teachers & police back to work locally.

Let the Bush tax cuts on the wealthiest Americans expire.

Pass the Buffett Rule -- Rep. Tammy Baldwin's Paying a Fair Share Act -- because millionaires and billionaires should pay their fair share to bolster education, health care, and infrastructure to rebuild our economy
Pass measures like the Bring Jobs Home Act that combat outsourcing of American jobs.

Cut the massive defense budget to reduce the deficit.

Raise capital gains taxes.
