In October 2009, unemployment reached 10.2 percent, the highest level in over a quarter century. More than 2.8 million jobs have been lost since President Obama's "stimulus" package was signed driving our federal deficit and debt up to job-killing levels. The President and Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi totally ignored the American people's opposition, and followed up by passing a wildly unpopular government healthcare takeover that added another $1.3 TRILLION to our deficit, and threaten to swamp employers with raging health insurance hikes and new taxes.
The American people want to know, "Where are the jobs?"
The American people know that a true economic recovery starts with tax relief for working families and small businesses, and fiscal discipline in Washington. I will work for immediate spending cuts to lower the federal deficit and balance our budget. This will restore the necessary business and investor confidence in the long-term health of our economy to stimulate business expansion and job growth.
I voted against the orginial TARP because it was a waste of taxpayer dollars. And you can be sure I will vote to repeal the Obama stimulus, return unused funds to the taxpayers, and seek to recover all funds spent under both programs. Then I will support a full federal investigation into suspected wrongdoing by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and any Wall Street firms that led to the collapse of our housing industry and brought on this recession.
I will vote for expanding domestic energy resources to cut domestic production costs and our trade deficits, and to repeal the Obama/Pelosi healthcare bill that has put the brakes on new hiring for fear of costly employer healthcare mandates.
The real solution to restoring jobs is to get the government out of our free market economy, and begin undoing the economic damage done to America by decades of Washington interference and irresponsibility.
