COMMON SENSE GOVERNMENT
Common Sense Government says thatour state government must do what CT families are doing everyday -- making difficult decisions/sacrifices and living within their means.
SPEND NO MORE THAN YOU MAKE.
Connecticut taxpayers can no longer afford our bloated state government. Government can't afford the services it provides now.
BORROW ONLY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY BACK.
It's time we alt the alarming habit of government borrowing its way out of its financial troubles. Last year, Connecticut borrowed a staggering $1.3 billion to plug budget holes. We cannot borrow to feed our free spending way; instead we need to cut spending and live within our means.
IF IT'S BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT,
BUT IF IT'S NOT WORKING, LET'S IMPROVE IT.
Propose consolidating information technology systems at our universities and agencies to eliminate duplication of services. Businesses everywhere have taken these steps -- it is time Connecticut did the same thing.
THE MORE GOVERNMENT TRIES TO DO,
THE LESS IT DOES WELL.
Connecticut spending almost $3 million in fringe benefits to state employees, who maintain our parks and forests. We should consider privitizing our services that maintain the same quality services as a lower cost.
WE SHOULD HAVE ALL THE GOVERNMENT WE NEED,
BUT ONLY THE GOVERNMENT WE NEED.
