Issue Position

A member of the Ways and Means committee, Ruben is acutely aware of Arizona's flawed tax system, which is overly reliant on a variety of regressive and unpredictable sales taxes. He supports tax reforms that would make the system fair for all taxpayers, moving away from sales taxes to more equitable models.

Last legislative session, Ruben successfully passed a measure placing the University of Phoenix, the district's largest employer, into a category with other colleges and universities, ensuring that the company (which is the district's largest employer) will remain headquartered in the area for years to come.
