Education is the determining factor in whether a democracy can succeed or fail. With equality of opportunity -- a fair education system that gives everyone the opportunity to excel -- there is less of a need for equality of outcome -- redistributed wealth in the form of subsidized services.

1. Vouchers

Providing students in failing schools the opportunity to go to a school that will give them an equal opportunity to succeed is an absolute necessity. The more options available to parents to send their kids will only make the schools work harder to increase the quality of education.

2. Scholarships

With less state revenue and rising tuition costs, students are being stretched to their limits when finding ways to pay for college. If the student wishes to remain in state after graduation, and secures employment, Florida would be wise to provide that student with extra support in college. This will help keep the student out of debt resulting in a larger net income and will attract more businesses to the state (see Economy above).
