Cornyn on Five Straight Years of Adding a Trillion Dollars to the Debt

Statement

Date: July 24, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, issued the following statement after the United States added over $1 trillion to the debt this fiscal year for the fifth straight year:

"This dismal benchmark underscores the President's aversion to making tough fiscal choices, as well as the glaring absence of a Democrat budget in the Senate for over three years.

"Republicans in Congress continue to produce budgets that cut spending, reform entitlements, and simplify the tax code, but the President and our colleagues refuse to confront our fiscal reality."
