Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement applauding federal funding to help recruit volunteer firefighters in Montgomery County:
"First responders put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and our homes, as we observed once again with their tireless work over the last week to provide our community with the support and vital emergency services that were needed after last Friday's terrible storms and the subsequent power outages. This vital funding will go a long way in helping them keep our community safe by giving them the resources necessary to recruit and train talented 'frontline' firefighters. I will continue working diligently to ensure that our brave firefighters have the funding and equipment they need to perform their duties and serve our community."
