I am absolutely opposed to Palestinian efforts to have the United Nations unilaterally declare statehood. This is an end-run around US-backed peace efforts and is essentially a blessing of the Hamas regime. As a Member of Congress, I will oppose these efforts and will work to use whatever pressure necessary to convince the UN and the Palestinian Authority to abandon this process and return to direct talks.
