Tom Patton strengthened the penalties for those guilty of theft, and he increased public notification of the whereabouts of sex offenders. Tom also led the effort to pass a new law creating a statewide Blue Alert, which will use existing broadcast systems to provide the public with the identities of individuals suspected of killing or injuring an on-duty law enforcement officer.
