Tom Patton helped pass the most innovative overhaul of Ohio's economic development infrastructure in a half-century, leading to the retention and creation of thousands of jobs. He worked to create important new incentives designed to keep Ohio jobs and companies from being lured away by other states, such as Cuyahoga County's own American Greetings. As a result of policies Tom supported, Ohio's approach to job creation attracted 245 new investments, expansions and relocations last year, creating more than 21,000 new jobs and keeping nearly 62,000 existing jobs. Overall, that equals nearly $4.8 billion in new or saved payroll for the state.
