Issue Position

"Turner works to ensure Americans can keep the care they want and their decisions remain between them and their doctor"

Congressman Turner has been heavily involved in the effort to reform medical liability laws to safeguard patient access to care, keep the cost of medical care down, and ensure that talented doctors will remain in Ohio. He believes that healthcare decisions should remain between a doctor and their patient; not the government. Turner joined the fight to stop Obamacare. First, by voting against the bill, and soon after, by supporting legislation that would repeal the bill.

He is a cosponsor of:

H.R. 2: The Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act, which was approved by the House on 1/19/11 by a vote of 245 to 189.

H.R. 4: The Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Repayment of Exchange Subsidy Overpayments Act of 2011. This bill repeals the 1099 filing requirement of Obamacare, which would have been an avalanche of paperwork for our nation's businesses. This bill has passed the House and Senate, and has been signed into law by the President.

H.R. 452: The Medicare Decisions Accountability Act. This bill repeals the Independent Payment Advisory Board of Obamacare, which decides what types of care Americans would be eligible to receive.

In addition, Turner has introduced legislation (H.R. 1310) which would repeal the placement of an excise on medical device manufacturers included in Obamacare. This tax would inhibit job creation in this growing sector and decrease the availability of affordable safety equipment our first responders rely on.
