Issue Position: Creating Patient Centered Healthcare

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Aric helped Senator Tom George, a doctor by training, in his fight against government control of healthcare and for better, more affordable and accessible health care. Aric worked with the co-Chair of the House GOP Doctors Caucus to push for patient-centered quality reforms that will improve coordinated care while cutting costs. They lead the efforts to defeat Speaker Pelosi's government takeover of healthcare and preserve the doctor-patient relationship.

Aric supports empowering the patient to ensure that health insurance is personal, portable, and private. Private patient-centered health insurance will help ensure quality and prevent the government from interfering between the doctor-patient relationship. Too many Americans stay at jobs they don't like to keep their health insurance as they are afraid of being rejected for pre-existing conditions. A top priority should be portability, so health insurance is connected to the individual not the employer. Also, keeping medical records private is critical as electronic medical records and health information technology continues to grow.

Aric supports ending the state monopolies of health insurance companies by opening up the health insurance market to interstate competition, ending lawsuit abuse by instituting tort reform, and enhancing personal choice through health savings accounts.
