Issue Position: Eliminating Excessive Regulation, Taxation, and Litigation

People talk about the need for lower taxes. Aric has worked and won battles for lower taxes from his work at American's for Tax Reform, where he helped build coalitions to stop tax increases on our families. Michigan has lost nearly a million jobs in the past ten years, making it the "lost decade." With a new decade starting, now is the time to get serious and reform government, lower taxes, and work to attract businesses. We do not need more political back scratching that happens when government hands out special subsidies to certain new companies, and does nothing for businesses who have been providing jobs in Michigan for decades.

Liberals in the state legislature found their opportunity to stop the right sizing of Michigan's government and pushed through the largest tax increase in state history. The result has been devastating as Michigan continues to lead the nation in unemployment and income to working family tumbles. The same tired solutions from the Lansing status quo won't solve Michigan woes.

Governor Granholm's education retraining program has been woefully inadequate as over half of the workers that go through retraining have not found meaningful employment. Michigan needs to prioritize programs that work, reform those that can be improved, and eliminate the ones that are not effective.
