Issue Position

As energy prices climb and families and businesses have trouble paying for the high price of gas and electricity to run their homes and businesses, Michigan can play a key role in developing our resources. From bio-fuels on the farm and natural gas production to carbon free nuclear power, Michigan's vast resources can contribute greatly to moving America towards energy independence and a clean energy future.

Aric's energy plan includes an all of the above strategy to include environmentally sound exploration, new clean coal and modern nuclear power plants, a mix of conservation efforts and deployment of the next generation of alternative energy. Using American ingenuity, talent, and technology will make Michigan the leader in clean energy development and lead America down the path of energy independence. America needs to build new refineries, power plants, and develop our resources so America can have a stable domestic energy supply to rebuild our economy and provide a secure energy future.

The Washington-centered solution of a new National Energy Tax enacted through a complicated series of credits, rebates, taxes, and caps will not solve America's dependence on foreign energy. A full-scale energy renaissance in America can start in Michigan. By developing new energy conservation technologies and clean energy alternatives, allowing America's abundant oil and natural gas resources to be produced here, as well as building a series of nuclear power plants and utilizing clean coal technology. Michigan can be the shining example of taking the right approach for the rest of the United States.
