Capito Statement on State of Emergency in West Virginia

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement concerning the state of emergency in West Virginia resulting from last night's severe storms:

"Last night's severe storms have left hundreds of thousands of West Virginians without electricity, and the resulting damage has been devastating for families and businesses. I was at home in Charleston when the storms hit. Like many West Virginians, we've been picking up debris and dealing with the aftermath of the storms today.

"Especially with high heat indexes expected over the next few days, I encourage constituents to stay cool and dry and to pay particular attention to those at risk for heat-related illness.

"My staff and I stand ready to assist constituents in any way we can. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep open lines of communication with state and national officials."
