Cornyn Statement on Holder Contempt Vote

Statement

Date: June 28, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress:

"More than 2,000 U.S. weapons went missing, a federal agent is dead, and Eric Holder has covered up the answers for 18 months. While today's vote could have been avoided, his insistence on stonewalling left no other option but to hold him in contempt of Congress.

"Today's vote affirms the integrity of our system of checks and balances and sends a clear message that justice must always trump politics."
