Keadle Admits to Taking Millions of Stimulus Dollars

In last night's Rowan TEA Party Patriots debate, Richard Hudson challenged Scott Keadle on his support for President Obama's Stimulus program while on the Iredell County Commission.

"I had a fiduciary responsibility to accept any money that we could get for Iredell County, and I did that, absolutely," said Keadle. "If the citizens of a county can get some money, then it's our responsibility to accept that money."

During his tenure on the Iredell County Commission, Scott Keadle voted to approve at least $4,852,700.04 in funding that came from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA); also known as "the stimulus." In addition to Keadle's votes to approve stimulus funding to Iredell County, Keadle proposed an amendment to designate all of Iredell County an economic recovery zone. Doing so allowed the entirety of Iredell County to apply for stimulus funding.

"We need integrity in Congress and we need leaders who will stand up against bailouts, giveaways and stimulus plans," said Richard Hudson. "When given an opportunity to stand up for conservative values and against the Obama Stimulus, Keadle decided to take the money and run. I will take a wrecking ball to Barack Obama's liberal agenda, not go along with it. It's not the government's money."
