House Passes Domestic Energy Production Bill

Today Representative Kathy Hochul (NY-26) voted in favor of the Strategic Energy Production Act of 2012, expanding on her all-of-the-above energy strategy.

"This bill will help ensure that we continue to expand domestic production so we can meet our future energy needs with American-made energy, instead of more imports from hostile regimes. Expanding domestic energy production will also help stabilize energy prices for our farmers, businesses, and families and help strengthen Western New York's economy. I am proud to join my colleagues in passing this bill through the House, and I urge the Senate to pass this bill without delay," Rep. Hochul said.

Last month, Rep. Hochul unveiled her own comprehensive energy plan designed to make our nation more energy-independent, lower gas prices, and reduce the deficit by closing tax loopholes for big oil.

The Congresswoman has also met with local agriculture leaders about the high cost of fuel and how it impacts family farms' bottom line. Both agriculture and energy are components of Hochul's "Revitalizing our Economy through Business, Infrastructure, and Local Development" (REBUILD) Plan.
