In anticipation of the U.S. Senate's vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act, Tim Kaine released the following statement:
"The Senate has a chance today to move our country toward the reality of equal pay for equal work by passing the Paycheck Fairness Act. I strongly urge them to do so. Women play a vital role in the economies of our country and our Commonwealth, yet they still do not earn the same wages for the same work. This wage gap remains persistent among workers of nearly all earning and education levels, occupations, and age groups. Unfortunately, partisanship in Washington has taken a piece of common sense legislation and made it controversial. I hope the Senate will do what's right today and put the best economic interests of women and families across the country before personal political agendas."
