Schumer, Clinton: Congress Approves $14 Million for Niagara Air Reserve Station

SCHUMER, CLINTON: CONGRESS APPROVES $14 MILLION FOR NIAGARA AIR RESERVE STATION

US Senators Charles Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton announced today that Congress had given final approval for $7.8 million for the construction of a Fire Crash Rescue Station and $6.2 million for a Military Entrance Processing Station at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

The news came as the House and Senate approved the FY 2005 Department of Defense Military Construction Appropriations Bill. The bill will now go to the President for his signature.

"These projects are a win-win scenario for Niagara Falls by providing a greater investment in the facility and by improving conditions for the men and women who serve there," said Senator Schumer. "Funding for the Fire Crash Rescue Station will strengthen the base for the future. This funding, combined with plans to build a new Visiting Airman's Quarters, is part of a strong effort to ensure the future of the Station."

"This is huge investment in the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and a strong step toward completing a number of projects to improve and strengthen the base for the future. Authorization for this funding, combined with plans to build a new Visiting Airman's Quarters, represents a concerted effort - that I am proud to be a part of - to support the base and ensure the future of the station," said Senator Clinton, who recently met with the members of NIMAC in Washington DC.
