As Chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy & Forestry, I work day-to-day in order to ensure the family farm remains to be a viable business venture in the 21st Century. In the 112th Congress, I have worked to return commonsense and economic balance to the Chesapeake Bay Clean-Up Initiative. Pennsylvania's farmers do not need unfunded federal mandates placing undue and unnecessary economic strains on them. I also continue to be active with our dairy farmers seeking long-term solutions to pricing volatility. I was successful in having a 4th generation dairy farmer from the 5th District appointed as vice-chairman of the USDA's Dairy Advisory Committee. We must always ensure that Pennsylvania's long history of Agriculture has a seat at the table when it comes to the major decisions affecting our farmers. We also must assure that America has the most affordable, highest quality and safest food supply in the world. For these contributions, I have been proud to receive the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award, which remains a great honor.
