Issue Position

As a member of the House Education & Workforce Committee, I have worked to help facilitate an open conversation between all stake holders, parents, teachers, administrations, and school boards. As a parent and former school board member, I recognize that an open an honest dialogue is the key to ensuring that every child has an opportunity to live up to his or her own potential. Current laws are just not working well enough for our children. I will continue to advocate for more local control, to empower parents in their child's education, to let teachers teach, and to protect the taxpayer. We must make sure that America's students at all levels have the skills to be competitive in the global market. I am proud to serve as a co-chair of the Congressional Career and Technical Education Caucus.
