Mike has been an advocate for reigning in wasteful spending in Washington. In addition to opposing raising the national debt limit to $17 trillion, he has voted for legislation which would place our government on a path to eliminating the deficit and paying off our outstanding debt. This plan, which cuts current spending levels, caps them at pre-President Obama spending, also sets a path for approving a Balanced Budget Amendment to our Constitution. Congressman Turner has voted against the $814 billion Stimulus bill, the $700 billion Wall Street Bailout, which included $180 billion for AIG, the $154 billion bailout for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the Auto Bailout.
