Museums Offer Free Admission to Military Families

Today, Representative Kathy Hochul announced the museums in New York's 26th Congressional District that will take part in the Blue Star Museums Initiative. Participating museums will offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day this year.

"This Memorial Day weekend, I am pleased to announce that six museums in my district have decided to participate in the Blue Star Museums Initiative and thank our soldiers and their families with free admission all summer. I applaud these museums for recognizing this great opportunity to honor our military," said Hochul.

The participating museums in the 26th District include the Holland Land Office Museum in Batavia; Lockport's Niagara County History Center, Penney Gallery, Col. William Bond Jesse Hawley House, and Erie Canal Discovery Center; and the North Tonawanda History Museum. To see all participating museums, visit the Blue Star Museums Initiative website.

The Blue Star Museums Initiative is a partnership among the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,500 museums across America. Last summer, 1,526 museums across the nation participated in the Blue Star Museums Initiative, welcoming over 300,000 active military men, women, and their families.

Earlier this month, Hochul sent a letter to all the museums in the 26th District urging them to join the initiative.
