We Need Solutions

Statement

Date: April 24, 2012

I am writing today to ask for your vote.

At the state level, I've proven I can cut spending and stand up to the entrenched liberal bureaucracies. The only way to begin to reform the government agencies creating so many headaches for small businesses is to cut their funding. I led the effort in the state legislature to cut the red tape killing small businesses and interject some common sense into our rule-making system. And, I know what it takes to balance a budget because I've done it in Raleigh.

I'm ready to take that experience and fight for our values in Washington. In Washington, I'll cut wasteful spending and fight to return to fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets.

I'll focus on repealing Obamacare and replacing it with patient-centered, market-oriented solutions, such as allowing the creation of association health plans where groups of individuals can negotiate a better rate for health insurance by pooling their resources and by creating health savings accounts so that individuals can set aside money tax free for health care purposes.

I will work to scrap our current burdensome tax code (which, by the way, is 3.8 million words long!!) and put in place a new tax structure that's fair, flat, and simple -- allowing businesses to grow and families to keep more of the money they earn. Everyone should pay taxes -- not just those working. No more riding on the backs of others who are doing the work and carrying the whole load! If you work you should be better off than if you don't work.

If we do these things, we will turn our economy around and get back on the right track.

So I'm asking for your vote to help make the same kind of changes in Washington that we have made in Raleigh.

Early voting is open through May 5th and Election Day is Tuesday, May 8th.

At the state level, we won on cutting spending, we won on balancing the budget, we won on cutting taxes, we won on cutting back rules and regulations killing small businesses, we won on medical malpractice reform saving our doctors and reducing health care costs, and in November we will win again!
