Location: Washington, DC

Today Congresswoman Laura Richardson announced that the Children's Clinic has been awarded a $2 million grant by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

"With this $2 million Health Center Cluster Grant, The Children's Clinic will be able to increase the low-income community's access to primary care and preventive health services. The funding allows for primary and preventive health services to continue to be offered at each of the eight locations, including two recently opened centers, which will provide access to even more people in the Long Beach area," said Congresswoman Richardson.

The Children's Clinic is an independent not-for-profit community health center that has been an essential part of the Long Beach health care system since its creation in 1939. In 2011 TCC provided 73,024 visits to 24,141 medically underserved low-income children, adolescents and adults.

"This grant will provide much needed assistance to The Children's Clinic which provides vital care to the low income community in Long Beach. With the state of the economy I am fighting hard to provide affordable health services to the constituents in my district," said Congresswoman Richardson.
