Letter to Constituents

Letter

Date: May 18, 2012

Dear Friends,

This week I voted in support of legislation which provides the pay, funding and authorities for America's armed forces. The legislation also prohibited the government from shuttering cost-effective programs like the C-27J that would have a significant negative impact at Air National Guard bases like Battle Creek.

In the Homeland Security's Subcommittee on Transportation Security, my colleagues and I looked at the Transportation Security Association's (TSA) failure to properly report and monitor security breaches at our nation's airports. The hearing entitled "Access Control Point Breach at our Nation's Airports: Anomalies or Systemic Failures?" gave me an opportunity to question TSA officials on how they will close the gaps and end these inexcusable security breaches.

Earlier in the week I met up with 7th and 8th grade students from Washtenaw Christian who were visiting D.C. After a tour of the U.S. Capitol Building I had the privilege of answering their questions about the duties involved with being a Congressman.

Finally, this week I launched a new website feature, "Question of the Week". Each week I'll be responding to questions in a short video clip from your email, letters, phone calls and facebook comments. Click here to watch my first video and please keep sending in the questions!

As always, please check back with my facebook and twitter pages for even more updates like these.

Sincerely,

Congressman

Tim Walberg
