Issue Position

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito is leading the effort to stop the Environmental Protection Agency's use of regulatory injunction and bureaucratic over-reach against the coal and natural gas industry. Her support for a comprehensive energy plan that includes West Virginia energy sources to end our reliance on foreign oil led her to co-found the Congressional Coal Caucus. She supports the Keystone Pipeline and use of coal-to-liquid fuel as a solution to high gas prices.

Capito has supported the extension of tax cuts for small businesses so they can invest in their businesses, and she is the sponsor of legislation that encourages technology firms to locate in West Virginia. As a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, she will continue to advocate for critical state infrastructure projects like she has for Route 35 securing over $42 million and opposing the Obama Administration's proposed cut to Corridor H funding in 2009.
