Cassidy Statement on NRC Chairman Jaczko's Resignation

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Women Defense

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement regarding the resignation of NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko:

"This news is long overdue. It has been clear from his actions documented in an Inspector General's report, including news that he had mistrated female employees, that both Congress and the other members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission have lost faith in his ability to do his job. From overseeing nuclear power facilities like River Bend in St. Francisville, to ensuring the safety and reliability of our nuclear weapons, the NRC has extremely important work to do for the American people. Hopefully by putting this chain of events behind us, the other NRC commissioners and their staff will be free to focus on their mission under new leadership."
