U.S. Rep. Gary Peters Statement on Cinco de Mayo

Statement

Date: May 4, 2012
Location: Pontiac, MI

Today, U.S. Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement in recognizing the celebration of Cinco de Mayo on May 5, 2012:

"Today we celebrate the many contributions of Hispanics throughout our country's rich history on Cinco de Mayo. As the fastest growing minority group in America, we need to ensure that those who come to the United States by no choice of their own as children have a chance at staying in the country legally. That's why I was proud to vote for the DREAM Act when it passed the House of Representatives in 2010 and why I continue to stand with President Obama on this important issue today. I will keep fighting for immigration reform and against Republican obstruction that is stopping the immediate passage of the DREAM Act."
