Landry Bucks Party, Votes Against CISPA

Statement

Date: April 27, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) issued the following statement after he voted against H.R. 3523 -- the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 (CISPA):

"Unfortunately, many in Washington are beholden to their next election not to the Constitution. Under the guise of "cybersecurity', Washington politicians have jeopardized Americans' Constitutional right to privacy by passing CISPA. I, however, am proud to have voted against this latest government overreach. As Benjamin Franklin once correctly said, "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.' The abuse by Congress over the last 30 years on our civil liberties must end."
