Spyware continues to be a threat to consumers on the internet. Experts estimate that as many as 80-90 percent of all personal computers contain some form of spyware. Spyware costs American consumers an estimated $2.6 billion per year and American businesses an estimated $67.2 billion per year.
I've taken several steps to fight spyware and protect online consumers, such as guiding the Internet Spyware (I-SPY) Prevention Act through Congress. I'll continuing working to pass legislation to protect consumers and industry from spyware and other computer related crimes.
