Issue Position

Access to affordable, quality health care is a right all Americans deserve. I have spent my entire career working to make that simple statement a reality. At the local level, I worked to keep Valley Med open to all county residents and to ensure it was one of the finest medical facilities in Silicon Valley. At the federal level, I've continued working to improve and protect Medicare and Medicaid. I supported the inclusion of a robust public option in President Obama's health insurance reform measure, and I worked with my colleagues to ensure that the final bill passed the House of Representatives. While it was far from perfect and lacked the public option plan I supported, it has already helped millions of Americans secure access to life saving medical care. We have much more work to do before every American has guaranteed access to the medical services they need to prosper. Please join me in this important fight.
