U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following response to today's report that the long-term deficit projections for both the Social Security and Medicare trust funds worsened over the past year:
"Whether it's ignoring his own fiscal commission or his own Actuaries, the President continues to blow past warning after warning about our entitlement spending.
"The contrast between the President's lack of a political will to govern and Republican common-sense solutions signifies the choice Americans will have this November."
Senator Cornyn serves on the Finance, Judiciary, Armed Services and Budget Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee's Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. He served previously as Texas Attorney General, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Bexar County District Judge.
