"There is no question that our nation must get serious about cutting spending, but the House Republican budget voted on today does not add up. We cannot provide trillions in tax breaks to multi-millionaires, Big Oil and corporations that ship jobs overseas and expect to cut the deficit.
"The Republican budget would essentially end Medicare, forcing seniors to pay higher prices for health care and take a cut to benefits, while at the same time giving multi-millionaires an additional $150,000 a year in tax breaks.
"The only way to seriously cut the deficit is by supporting common-sense, bipartisan solutions that balance our budget, like the Balanced Budget Amendment and last year's compromise to cut the deficit by more than $2 trillion."
