A Record of Accomplishment on Women's Issues

Advocated for more women in government: While women make up the majority of the state's population, they traditionally have lagged behind in holding elected positions. Susan has made it a priority to encourage women to get involved in public service and to run for elected office.

Assisted women-owned businesses: Susan helped many female-owned businesses with networking opportunities and seminars informing them how to bid on and obtain access to state contracts.

A Plan to Improve Opportunities for Women

Support women-owned business: Susan will work to expand access to federal contracts by female-owned small businesses.

Stand up for a woman's right to choose: Susan will always protect a woman's right to choose. She supports making sure women have access to reproductive health care so medical decisions are made between a woman and her doctor.

Demand equal pay for equal work: Susan was encouraged that Congress passed the Lilly Ledbetter law in 2009, but more must be done to ensure women earn equal pay for equal work. She supports the Pay Equity Fairness Act that will require companies to pay women equally for equal work.
