Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., voted today to put our country back on a road toward economic growth and fiscal soundness.
"This budget is not perfect, but it honestly assesses our troubling budget situation and recommends reforms to put us on a path to regain and retain our fiscal health. We cannot turn away from this impending debt crisis. We have a moral and legal duty to make tough decisions in order ensure our kids and grandkids have the same opportunities that my generation did when we were starting out," stated Capito.
Instead of coming up with solutions to lower our nation's $15 trillion debt and reform our entitlement system which experts say is going broke and fast, the Senate continues to kick the can down the road. The U.S. Senate has not passed a budget in over 1,000 days and counting.
"America has had enough of the Washington mentality of kicking the can down the road. Does the Senior citizen on social security have the luxury of deciding they're not going to budget within their means? Does the family of four have the luxury of not planning ahead and budgeting for the future? Does the small business owner have the luxury of not setting out a plan to budget spending priorities?" asked Capito.
