House Republican Budget Provides More Certainty For Small Businesses

Statement

House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement on the House Budget Committee's Fiscal Year 2013 Budget-- the Path to Prosperity introduced today:

"The dire economic circumstances which our country is facing call for bold measures to get us back on track. The Path to Prosperity accomplishes this. When the country is over $15 trillion in debt the answer is to rein in spending as the Path to Prosperity proposes. The tough choices, including the $5 trillion in spending reductions, that the House Budget Committee recommends, stands in stark contrast to the President's timid budget proposal that increases spending by $1.5 trillion and avoids hard choices.

"For small business owners, certainty is everything. This budget addresses the ominous cloud of debt that hangs over the economy and helps provide certainty by laying a financial framework for what's on the horizon. Small business owners can plan if they know what taxes or reforms are on the way, allowing them to set a path toward growth and hiring. Preparing a budget is one of the most basic responsibilities of Congress, and it gives us an opportunity to put our country on track and lead us back to economic prosperity.

"It has been almost three years since the Democratically-controlled Senate last passed a budget and there is no sign that they will offer one this year. This abdication of responsibility for political expedience is not acceptable. I hope the Senate will instead choose to lead and work with House Republicans on a budget so that Washington can start living within its means and America's future will be more certain and secure."
