Dear Friends,
One of the great things about Colorado is that when someone faces a rough patch, they can always count on their neighbors to give them a helping hand. Now is one of those times. Flaws in the Colorado Benefits Management System's computers have left thousands of hard working Coloradoans and their families without food stamps, Medicaid, temporary financial assistance and other critical aid. This has forced many more people than usual to turn to our local food banks. Due to the unanticipated increase in need, food supplies are quickly running low.
Fortunately, there's a way to help. The Food Bank of the Rockies, which for years has provided assistance to those in need, is accepting non-perishable food items (peanut butter, canned goods, macaroni & cheese, and the like - avoid glass containers) at their drop-off location - 10975 E. 47th Ave. (2 blocks east of Havana on 47th Ave., south of the intersection of I-70 & Havana).
