Issue Position

Q: Do you think the federal stimulus program was necessary? If so, would you vote for further stimulus programs?

A: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the federal stimulus program, was necessary to save our economy. Economists on both sides of the aisle have said that without the stimulus, unemployment would be even higher now. Because of the Recovery Act, in the Fifth District, 239,000 families received a much-needed tax cut. 59,000 Missourian jobs were created or saved. If a second stimulus was proposed and if it was targeted at creating jobs, such as infrastructure investment, I may be inclined to vote for
it.
