Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Applauds Confirmation of Goss as New CIA Director

WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today praised Congress' confirmation of Congressman Porter Goss (R-FL) as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

"Clearly few have the wealth of experience and the strength of will needed to effectively serve as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency," Diaz-Balart said. "Congressman Porter Goss already has served his nation well with his years as a CIA officer and more recently as the Chair of the House Select Committee on Intelligence. Now he will continue to honorably serve our country in this vital position.

"More than ever, we live in a time where we rely heavily on the work of our intelligence community. Congressman Goss understands the challenges the CIA faces and is willing to make the tough reforms that will make that agency better. That is why he has strong support from both sides of the aisle and is clearly the ideal person for this position."
