Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Receives Key to City of Homestead

WASHINGTON-The City of Homestead presented Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) the Key to the City Monday night and proclaimed Monday, September 20, 2004 Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Day.

"Receiving the Key to the City of Homestead is a great honor that I am humbled to accept," Diaz-Balart said. "This city has demonstrated the indomitable American spirit of hope and determination, having valiantly emerged from the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. To receive this incredible honor from the hard-working people of Homestead is something I very much cherish."

According to the proclamation, Congressman Diaz-Balart received the Key to the City as an expression of gratitude and recognition of all he has done for the community, including obtaining the first federal funding for the City of Homestead other than federal assistance following Hurricane Andrew.
