Griffith Expresses Disappointment About Failure of Boiler MACT Amendment in Senate

Congressman Morgan Griffith released the following statement today after learning the Boiler MACT regulatory relief amendment failed in the U.S. Senate:

"I'm very disappointed that a commonsense idea like giving businesses, manufacturers, universities, and hotels regulatory relief from new burdensome boiler regulations can't get through the Senate. My bill, H.R. 2250, is nearly identical to this Senate amendment and received overwhelming bipartisan support in the House, including 41 Democratic votes. Despite receiving 52 votes in the Senate, the amendment ultimately fell short of the 60 votes required for adoption. Unfortunately, this is another example of the undemocratic rules of the Senate; only in the U.S. Senate is 51 not a majority of 100.

"Despite the frustration that comes with today's news, I will continue to fight for American businesses, American employees, and American jobs."
