Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement regarding his no vote on the unfunded extension of the Payroll Tax and SGR.

"The deficit is the single greatest threat to Social Security and Medicare. This deal increases the deficit. The attempt to offset the spending increases includes a provision which disproportionately impacts Louisiana. It continues to incompletely address the issue of Medicare payments to doctors caring for senior citizens. Not addressing this issue will further increase our deficit and imperil senior citizens' ability to see their doctor."
