Congresswoman Laura Richardson Marks 400 Days of Republican "Do Nothing" Congress

Today, Congresswoman Richardson marks the 400th day of the Republican "do nothing" Congress, where the Republican majority managed to manufacture a crises that took the government to the brink of a shutdown and the economy to the brink of a default, meanwhile still continuing to have no job agenda and planning to end the Medicare guarantee.

"My Democratic colleagues and I have put our best foot forward in an effort to work with our Republican colleagues," said Congresswoman Richardson. "However, after seeing the lack of results produced by the Republican majority, it is time for Republicans to abandon their failed agenda and to join Democrats in our efforts to create jobs and get this Nation back on track."

Republicans have voted at least 31 times against Democratic jobs legislation to create or protect American jobs, several of which were bipartisan. Most notably House Republicans have voted 14 times against all or part of President Obama's American Jobs Act, an Act that is estimated to create 1.9 million jobs.

"Four hundred days is too long for American families to wait for the Republican majority to address their priorities, create jobs, stand up for the middle class, and uphold American values of fairness, opportunity, and responsibility," said Congresswoman Richardson.
