Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) responded to the Obama administration's decision concerning the requirement for employers to cover contraceptives at no additional cost. Faith-based employers may receive a one-year waiver to come into compliance with the regulation.
"I commend the Obama Administration's decision today on contraceptive coverage. This final rule appropriately maintains a narrow exemption for certain religious employers while providing church-affiliated universities and hospitals a year to comply with the requirement. The Obama administration struck the appropriate balance between respecting religious beliefs and the rights of women to access preventative health care."
