Griffith: Obama Reject American Jobs

Statement

Date: Jan. 18, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after the Obama Administration formally rejected a permit for the development of the Keystone XL pipeline:

"President Obama and his Administration have failed the American people. There is no question that the Keystone XL pipeline would be an immediate job creator. It would create thousands of jobs and potentially transport up to 830,000 barrels of North American oil each day. As our energy needs grow, we need access to affordable oil from friendly and stable sources, like Canada, now more than ever. Our friends, the Canadians, now have no choice but to sell their oil to China and other countries. When will we ever learn?

"The President talks a good game, but his actions contradict his rhetoric on job creation. Rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline permit is a rejection of American jobs."
